Update from FatWreckWikistan.

The front page has an update. We're trying to get everything in the background set before we let everyone go crazy. There's no point in setting things up and then having to tear it all back down to make an asthetic change in the site, etc. We're still tracking down some kind of gaming software for what is tenatively titled "the WrecksBox Live Arcade." Not sure if it'll be integrated into the board, posted on the board, or on a non-board page altogether. we'll see.

Thanks again to everyone for donating (updated list below.) Currently paypal has jacked about $50 in fees from the donations, but we still have a strong base of funds to keep the site going with.

here's what's up: I am in a hotel on the AZ/CA border (blythe, to be specific.) and will be home tomorrow. I still haven't paypal'd the $$ to sago, as we had my mom's internet shut off when we left TX. I can't do it from my phone, either. I got a hotel with free WiFi, but the bitches told me it's down. I am only about 4 hours from my house, though. i'll get it set up tomorrow.

we're also discussing new features. like a built-in auction interface for having "local" record trading auctions. a possible poker table/chat room for entertainment. and maybe having some sort of currency that one can earn for contributing to the wiki, that would allow them to "buy" upgrades to their wiki or board account.

good news!

phpBB3 was officially released today. the email said they have had an independent security firm review the coding and have added a ton of features, both at the request of users and from the minds of the phpBB dev team. the new forum should be cool.

update: iam driving and blogging. how dumb! I just got an email from sago. the account is created. just gotta pay. will update later.

it looks like the database crashed again. sami told me that he was thinking he might change the platform of the nofxwiki server because mysql is unstable. my genius ass roommate says we can stabilize it on the new server. he's running a site on a mysql-based server from sago that gets 2 million pageviews vs. nofxwiki's 75-200 thousand pageviews per month (depending on album releases or boring month.) feel free to use the comments section in place of the board, and if a new post is needed (comment string is too long) let me know. if anyone else with a google account (gmail account works) wants posting access, drop me a line and i'll add you.

okay. the donations are rolling in like crazy, and i've got enough to cover a couple months of the server. thank you all so much!!!! this is great. i've placed the order and am waiting to hear back from the company. if anyone would like to check them out, you can see their products at sago net - it's the $50/mo server package. it's a dedicated server, so we won't have other sites sucking up our power.

i've updated the donor list below. thanks again to everyone who has contributed. i'll be changing over from this blog to the server soon, so if things get weird for a day, don't worry, i'm not taking the money and going to mexico (yet.)

Delays..

sorry for the delays, everyone. my father passed away on the 6th, and it's been a terrible week. i am ready to begin moving forward with this plan, and have some great ideas. if there are any issues you have with, or improvements you'd like to see from the NOFXwiki, post them in the comments here. also, if anyone else wishes to donate, i'm still accepting them. the site will incur monthly costs, so anything and everything helps to maintain the community (though, i will do it all myself, if that needs be.)
